There was interruption of blood flow to leg along with repeated inadvertent administration of a concentrated medication into the catheter that caused the smaller vessels in the lower leg to become damaged and ultimately to require amputation above the knee.

Elliot Weiler of Fox2-TV aired a report on Pat Hagerty's wrongful death lawsuit against a St. Louis dentist and the practice of conscious sedation dentistry.

Confidential settlement. A young mother was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the alleged poisoning death of her infant son with antifreeze. After the conviction, GRG agreed to represent the mother and her husband. The conviction was overturned and the mother released from prison. A wrongful death claim was then successfully pursued against a hospital, physicians, and commercial laboratory by proving the baby was never poisoned. Instead, evidence established cumulative failures to make a proper diagnosis of an inborn metabolic disease known as methylamonic acidema that, if treated properly, could have saved the baby's life. This case was ultimately the subject of many medical articles, documentaries, and a made-for-television movie, "Without a Kiss Goodbye."

$7.8 Million Settlement of Bank Overdraft Fee Lawsuit

**Genetically Modified Rice Litigation Gray, Ritter & Graham attorney Don Downing led the negotiations for a $750 million settlement with Bayer Cropscience on behalf of U.S. rice farmers in a dispute over Bayer's genetically modified rice. This website provides information and updates regarding In re Genetically Modified Rice Litigation, MDL 1811, the class action settled on July 1, 2011.

**Court approves settlement in case against hospitals for overcharging uninsured patients. Recovery may total $267,000,000 or more.

In 2010, Gray Ritter & Graham and the law firms of Stueve Siegel Hanson and Tycko & Zavareei filed a class action lawsuit against UMB Bank and its affiliated entities, alleging that UMB customers who are citizens of Missouri were unfairly and deceptively charged overdraft fees. The lawsuit alleged that these practices violated Missouri's consumer protection law and UMB's contracts with its customers. On May 13, 2011, GRG and the other firms obtained a settlement in this matter of $7.8 million.
