Downing Recipient of Missouri Lawyers Award for $400 Million Dicamba Settlement

Gray Ritter Graham attorney Don Downing led negotiations last year that resulted in a $400 million settlement with Monsanto for farmers over crop damage they suffered from off-target dicamba usage.  That settlement was named the #1 settlement for 2020 by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as part of its 2021 Missouri Lawyers Awards.

Downing was the Chair of the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in the multidistrict litigation.  The settlement includes $300 million for soybean farmers who experienced economic damages due to the dicamba drift between 2015 and 2020.

The claims submission period is now open for soybean farmers who believe they suffered economic harm.  The claims period ends May 28, 2021.  The website to file claims is dicambasoybeansettlement.com.

Downing will receive his 2021 Missouri Lawyers Award in a virtual event on February 11.
