Confidential settlement against surgeon, hospital and product manufacturer for death of a 41 year-old wife and mother of four young children who died following a lymph node biopsy staging procedure using a surgical robot. During the biopsy procedure there was an injury to an artery that resulted in a significant bleed. There was a delay in converting the procedure to open.  Further, the robotic arm that was holding that clamp that had been placed to occlude the bleeding vessel failed to release resulting in a tear in the lumbar aorta.  The patient bled to death on the operating room table.  In addition to monetary compensation, a field safety notice and recall was issued by the manufacturer prior to resolution of the claim.
