Downing Files Missouri Consumer Fraud Class Action Lawsuit Against Monsanto, Roundup Weed Killer

Gray Ritter Graham attorney Don Downing and Pat Stueve of Stueve Siegel Hanson in Kansas City have filed a consumer fraud class action lawsuit on behalf of Missouri consumers against Monsanto over its line of Roundup products.  The lawsuit alleges that Monsanto violated Missouri law by using false, deceptive and unfair means to advertise and sell its glyphosate-based herbicide, Roundup.

Monsanto claims that Roundup is safe. However, for several decades, Monsanto has been presented with mounting, consistent scientific evidence that glyphosate and/or Roundup is carcinogenic and poses significant risks to human health, including but not limited to cancer.

Despite the growing body of evidence that Roundup use poses serious health risks to animals and humans, Monsanto continues to assert that its products are safe and non-carcinogenic, placing profits above the safety of its customers.

The two law firms previously worked together in bringing the nation’s first consumer fraud class action lawsuit against Merck & Co. Inc., the makers of Vioxx - a prescription arthritis pain reliever - on behalf of Missouri consumers.  The lawsuit resulted in a $220 million settlement for Missouri purchasers of Vioxx in 2012.

Those who live in Missouri and have purchased Roundup for personal, family or household purposes, or have been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma after being exposed to Roundup and would like more information about a potential claim can contact Gray Ritter Graham.

The choice of a lawyer is an important decision that should not be based solely on advertisements.
