Maurice GrahamThe National Law Journal reports that a lawsuit filed by Gray, Ritter & Graham attorney Maurice Graham on behalf of a Cape Girardeau, Mo., woman severely injured in a crash while driving her 2012 Chevrolet Cobalt may be one of a select few chosen as a “bellwether” test case in the GM defective ignition switch multi-district litigation. Her car was one of 2.6 million vehicles GM recalled in 2014 for a defective ignition switch, which the automaker has said can cause the vehicles to suddenly stop running. A U.S. District Judge issued a trial plan to initially hear six of the approximately 160 lawsuits filed so far against GM over the defective ignition switch.
