Gray Ritter Graham attorney Joan Lockwood has been named the 2021 recipient of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorney’s Thomas G. Strong Trial Attorney Award.  This award is given each year to the “Missouri attorney who best exemplifies the qualities of professionalism, ethics, character and courtroom success,” according to the organization.

Criteria the judges follow in deciding on the annual recipient are:

  • Results achieved in the courtroom given the nature and circumstances of cases tried
  • The number, length and complexity of cases tried
  • Promoting the organization by sharing of information and providing assistance to fellow trial lawyers

A member of the MATA Board of Governors, Joan serves on the Missouri Approved Jury Instruction committee, edits and writes the “Appellate Case Note” for The Missouri Trial Attorney, and leads MATA’s Annual Update on the Law CLE. In the past year she also represented civil practitioners on the statewide COVID-19 Response Task Force.

Joan will receive the award at MATA’s annual convention in June.

The choice of a lawyer is an important decision that should not be based solely on advertisements.
