Gretchen Garrison Named to the POWER List 2026
Gretchen Garrison is named to the 2026 Missouri Lawyers Weekly POWER List in Appellate Law. Gretchen has been a leading appellate practitioner in Missouri throughout her career, which has included tax appeals by or against Missouri’s Department of Revenue and service as Deputy Solicitor General for the Missouri Office of Attorney General. She has twice served as chair or co-chair of Missouri’s Appellate Practice Committee and frequently writes and/or speaks on appellate practice topics. Among other accomplishments, Gretchen was trial counsel and lead appellate counsel in multidistrict litigation against Monsanto after domestic rice became contaminated with still-experimental generic modification. Settlement (weeks before oral argument in the Eighth Circuit) culminated in over $1 billion total compensation to farmers and others harmed by European reaction to rice imports from the United States. More recently, she was on the team that won a $1.5 billion settlement in a case asserting that Syngenta prematurely commercialized genetically modified corn, resulting in an import ban by China. This impacted over 600,000 corn producers, grain handlers and ethanol plants across the country. This settlement is believed to be the largest agriculture settlement in U.S. history. These are just two of Gretchen’s many successful cases that have gone up on appeal. Congratulations to Gretchen, one of the most outstanding appellate lawyers in Missouri!
